Hensoldt DIAPI/DIAPI-D
multicaliber? - 2.5x - Germany - commerical?

The Hensoldt DIAPI was small (14.2mm tube) single turret commerical scope, the DIAPI-D was an larger and longer (22mm tube) version with two turrets for both elevation and windage. The DIAPI is marked 2 1/2x7,5 while the DIAPI-D is marked 2 1/2x17,5.

The DIAPI-D is found mounted on early HK G3 claw mounts. These mounts were originally designed to fit the Hensoldt Zielfernrohr 4x which meant that the smaller diameter DIAPI-D had to be fitted with a spacer inorder to fit the mounts properly. While it is unknown why the DIAPI-D was fitted to these mounts, it is likely Hensoldt supplied these modified DIAPI-D scopes to HK either due to development delays with the Zielfernrohr 4x or because the Zielfernrohr 4x had been outright cancelled.

There are potentially more variants of the scope.

Markings on the rear of the tube body on the DIAPI-D.

Seen in an early pattern HK G3 claw mount. These early mounts use steel bands and were intended orginally for use with the Hensoldt Zielfernrohr 4x scope.

Note the second and third example have a large tube that the scope fit into, while the first example has smaller rings that act as spacers under the metal straps .

Seen in a promotional image of the Stoner 66 by NWM. This is certinly a mock up as NWM would make a real scope mount for the Stoner 66 using the Delft 3x25 scope.
